Phil Helmuth is known for his WSOP entrances. In fact, it’s said that entering an event hours late is even a part of his poker strategy.
Wonder what entertaining with 11 amazing looking women in a double decker tour bus does for his game? 11 is the number of bracelets Helmuth has from WSOP events, maybe it’s his lucky number.
That’s just how Phil made his entrance into the 2010 WSOPE main event. As hundreds sat at poker tables, playing poker, chatting, strategizing and looking all to serious, Phil began to cause a bit of commotion outside.
The poker, joined by London paparazzi, and other local press gathered around waiting patiently for Phil’s arrival, or any other intriguing photo opportunity when a double decker bus, full of sexy women dancing inside slowly approached.
The members of the press gathered closer, ready to be the first to get shots of the bus, and perhaps snag an interview, when … the bus drove right by.
Off in the distance, a … marching band… played. The brass marching band marched their way closer and closer to the Casino at the Empire. Until finally, the bus returned.
This time the bus did stop, and from it emerged Lady Gaga, and 11 of her sexiest best friends. All dressed in Gaga style. They sang poker face for the small crowd of more than 1000 people by this time, they danced and entertained.
“I was pumped to see such a huge crowd gathered at ‘the Empire’ like never before when I arrived to take my seat at the WSOPE. Quite the arrival I’d say. The London double-decker, the brass band and 11 Lady Gagas all add up to the most unique media event in poker so far,” Said Phil Helmuth of his grand entrance at the WSOPE 2010 “My crazy themed grand entrances to the WSOP in Vegas are an institution, and now London’s WSOPE seems to have embraced a whole new tradition too.”
As they entertained the crowd, Gaga returned to the bus, and returned arm in arm with Phil Helmuth. They walked, she sang, and after a few moments in front of the crowd, headed into the casino.
Lady Gaga didn’t end her song on account of the poker being played inside, players were treated to the sounds of her voice wafting over the game as the game continued. Some say that adds value for the game, others wondered why they ever started letting women into poker rooms.
