UPDATE – 5/5/10 Aced will remain open, Carbon Poker has purchased Aced and will keep the room open! That’s great news as the Carbon Poker people are very dedicated, trustworthy and want to succeed. But the questions is why keep open 2 identical rooms? I’d choose the more stable Carbon Poker. But your Aced.com player balances are ALL SAFE as now it’s in the hands of Carbon Poker. Aced.com is saved!
Aced.com is a smaller poker room on the Merge Gaming Network that opened in August 2008 and rumor has it they are closing up May 7, 2010. I think if we looked closely, we would of saw this coming. Aced Poker did no real advertising and just seemed really stagnant.
Aced signed Poker pro and WSOP winner Jamie Gold back in February 2009. A few months later that partnership disintegrated as Jamie allegations of slow and non payments. Aced Poker would not make a statement about it and they quietly parted ways.
Aced Poker did have a couple of unique promotions that other Merge rooms did not offer. They had an “Outs” promotion that added fun ways to earn VIP points. Aced also had a 4 aces bonus, where if you were dealt 4 aces, you would instantly win 40x the big blind.
If you currently have money in Aced.com, I’d request a withdrawal IMMEDIATELY! (see update above) Although I have a feeling Carbon Poker or PDC Poker will absorb the room and Aced players.
If you like Aced Poker for the Merge Software, there are plenty of other good quality Merge sites that won’t shut down. Our favorite Merge Network room is currently Carbon Poker. Also last month, the Sportsbook.com poker and Players Only room moved from the Cake network to Merge with the creation of Play Aces.
