With an abundance of players, there is plenty of opportunities for a player to get in plenty of competitive poker time. Pokerstars stays on top of the competition by keeping their tables and tournaments packed, and this is one of the most important factors to a player when choosing a room. This site also makes a point to focus their attention on the areas which really matter; customer service and security are just two areas in which they excel. Sportsbook.com Poker and Players Only Poker are changing networks and merging to create “Play Aces” poker.  On Thursday April 15, 2010 Sportsbook.com and Players Only will officially move from the Cake Poker Network to to the Merge Gaming Network.

The Merge network will literally quadruple over night!  This is great for Merge, not so great for the Cake Network.  The Cake Network will still have Cake Poker and Doyles Room bringing in a lot of players, but they are going to take a hit with network traffic. Merge Gaming is claiming that they will grow to 6 times their current network size by August 2010.

Currently Carbon Poker and Aced are the biggest rooms on Merge.  I’ve always liked the Merge poker software, but the lack of traffic was a deal breaker for me.  Now, I’m ready to start playing at a Merge poker room.  Will others feel the same way?

For current Sportsbook.com and Players Only poker players, all of your cash, pending bonus, tournament tickets and gold cards/coins will be automatically transferred over at the following rates:

1 Cake Gold Chip = 20 VIP points
1 Cake Gold Card = 1 VIP point
$0.01 in tourney ticket from Cake = 1 VIP point
$1 pending bonus at Cake = $1 pending bonus at Merge

Also, you will not have to download the new software and create a new account.  The current Sportbook.com and Players Only poker software will automatically update to the new Play Aces Merge Client.

There will be a new $100k Freeroll at Play Aces for all new and old players.

Glamour Model to Return for Irish Open

The Paddy Power Poker Irish Open is a well known hunting ground for celebrities to take to the poker tables as they look to further build success within their lives and glamour model, television star and presenter Kara Scott is no different.

The star attended last years tournament, playing through the field to finish in second place after losing out heads up to Christer Johansson but she took home £272,574 for her placing.

kara scott pokerKara Scott has told media that she will be returning to the tournament again this year, this time looking to build on her success from last years event, this time gunning for the title and the first price prize money.

Recently seen on Sky Poker, the model and television star has been working on her game and a look at some of the action that she has been involved in shows that she is looking in great shape to take on the field.

The Irish Open is regarded as been the oldest Texas Hold’em Poker tournament in the whole of Europe and has been reported as been in action since 1981. During its time in yearly operation, the tournament series has gathered a large following and in the present day the tournament only plays second best to the World Series of Poker tournament event.

The sponsorship of the Irish Open was contracted to Paddy Power back in 2005, the brand taking the tournament and generating a stronger player base. It seems that the brand and online poker room will be further pushing the tournament to their online poker playing members with a view to get the tournaments player base to beat last years participation figures.
