Shannon Elizabeth amidst Poker Rake Rumors
Shannon Elizabeth, a well known actress and poker player has been thrust into the limelight after a story broke out about a home poker game that Shannon hosted. Perez Hilton, well known celebrity blogger, recently wrote an article about Shannon hosting a home poker game where she was taking a large rake from the pot without participating.
Hilton posted an email on his blog which he received from a player that was at the home game hosted by Shannon. However there has been no confirmation that the email or rumors are true, yet there has been a response from Shannon herself as well as backlash from the public in Shannon’s defense. The email stated that a few people were at Shannon’s house and they thought they would be playing with Shannon. However Shannon did not participate in the home game. However the player said she would take money from people and then take a rake from the pots.
The player went on to say that on one occasion the pot had $70 in it and the dealer took out $25 for the house. He said this is nuts for those who play poker on a regular basis . The email went on to bash Shannon stating that she is thrown hissy fits, throwing cards and chips during poker games. Which is contradictory to earlier in the email when the player said he was excited to play with the poker player.
Many have bashed Perez for posting the email as he did not know if the email was true or false. Many people have stated there is no way Shannon was there as she was competing at the 2010 World Series of Poker. Perez has taken a lot of flak for the post, which is not unusual since the celebrity blogger tends to post many controversial topics and pictures on his site.
Shannon took to her Twitter Account and posted the following: “In response 2 the Perez thing-it’s so silly & untrue cause U can go back & look at my postings & see I was in Vegas @ The WSOP competing.”
Shannon has a long reputation in the poker industry so it does not make sense for her to be hosting poker games at her home where she would take a large rake from each pot. She has been sponsored by large poker rooms, like Full Tilt Poker, over the years and she has also made appearances on several televised poker events. Shannon plays in the events to try and raise money for the Animal Avengers charity. She has done quite well in poker events over the past few years and her reputation has seen many in the industry to have her back now during the poker game rumors.
Kara Scott to Play in the Irish Open
Glamour Model to Return for Irish Open
The Paddy Power Poker Irish Open is a well known hunting ground for celebrities to take to the poker tables as they look to further build success within their lives and glamour model, television star and presenter Kara Scott is no different.
The star attended last years tournament, playing through the field to finish in second place after losing out heads up to Christer Johansson but she took home £272,574 for her placing.
Kara Scott has told media that she will be returning to the tournament again this year, this time looking to build on her success from last years event, this time gunning for the title and the first price prize money.
Recently seen on Sky Poker, the model and television star has been working on her game and a look at some of the action that she has been involved in shows that she is looking in great shape to take on the field.
The Irish Open is regarded as been the oldest Texas Hold’em Poker tournament in the whole of Europe and has been reported as been in action since 1981. During its time in yearly operation, the tournament series has gathered a large following and in the present day the tournament only plays second best to the World Series of Poker tournament event.
The sponsorship of the Irish Open was contracted to Paddy Power back in 2005, the brand taking the tournament and generating a stronger player base. It seems that the brand and online poker room will be further pushing the tournament to their online poker playing members with a view to get the tournaments player base to beat last years participation figures.
2010 is a good year for Tom Dwan
Poker professional Tom “durrrr” Dwan has had a rough time at the tables over the last 12 months, seeing his bankroll go from being a healthy one to seeing it almost scrape the bottom of his wallet.
Seeing his bankroll take a hit over the recent months has meant that the professional has had to take a step back away from the high stake tables in order to regenerate some of his losses, most famously the funds that he lost to “Isildur1″ while the unknown was making a name for himself at the Full Tilt Poker tables.
The current month has been on of the opposite kind for the well known player, generating a string of high amount winnings in order to set him onto a $240,000 profit for the year so far.
2010 hasn’t been exactly what the player was hoping for though, entering into January with the same luck that he had been having during the previous year but an alteration to his playing style and the stakes that the player involves himself with has meant that he has been able to turn around his fortunes and so far is sat firmly in profit.
It seems that 2010 is a great year for more than just Dwan though, Llari “Ziigmund” Sahamies has also seen a good run of form begin with the turn of the year, so far raising his profits to $330,000.
Both players will be looking to keep the winning momentum running, allowing for a couple of slip ups should they experience them along the way.
Tom “durrrr” Dwan is a resident poker professional at Full Tilt Poker and is always looking to face off against opponents, if you want to be the next headline player to steal the pros chips, you need to be playing your poker at Full Tilt Poker.
