Many have often wondered if it’s possible to cheat a casino. Well let me just say, it is possible to cheat a casino as a Tanzanian Man recently showed us. The question still remains though, can you actually get away with it?

The real life cast depicted in the movie 21 almost did, and there are those that would say Lemburis Israel Kiuyo came pretty close to getting away with placing a $1000 chip on the a winning number after the betting portion of the game had concluded and the actual winning number had already been revealed.

In fact, the man did get a dealer to pay him $35,000 in casino chips!

The trouble is Kipuyo used that same method of cheating at three other roulette tables in the very same day. Perhaps he could have gotten away with it… If, as they always seem to say, he hadn’t gotten greedy.

An on the ball dealer at a roulette table finally noticed Kipuyo with a $1000 chip at her table that she hadn’t noticed in play before. She told her pit boss, and he set surveillance in motion.

That was all she wrote for the would be casino caper. Kipuyo placed another bet after the ball stopped spinning on the roulette will, and the casino manager contacted local police. Kipuyo was arrested, there’s no word yet as to his bail.

The scam sounds like an easy one to pull off, the real question is… is it worth it? Kipuyo is facing as many as 10 years in jail along with fines for cheating the casino. You can beat the house, but Kipuyo, the best odds are at the blackjack table.

Samuel McMaster Junior plead guilty in an Albuquerque New Mexico courtroom to 26 felony counts of fraud including the sales of unregistered securities. McMaster defrauded 20 to 30 elderly persons. For his crimes, McMaster originally faced as many as 84 years in jail. The interesting thing about this case are the allowances made by the court for McMaster’s payment of restitution.

McMaster admitted to using the victims money for personal reasons and for gambling. He also testified in court that he is a professional gambler and that is his only profession.

In order to make it possible for McMaster to pay restitution to his victims the courts decision stipulated that McMaster could leave the state to play in poker tournaments in effort earn the money to pay back the victims. The court took McMaster’s job seriously, and some wonder if they didn’t set any sort of precedent by doing so.

SharkScope didn’t have a lot of information on McMaster, however, if the stats there are correct, he’s without a doubt a losing poker player.

McMaster agreed to to make $7500 monthly payments toward restitution. If he should fall behind in those payments, missing just two payments during the six month trial period McMaster’s being given to prove he can make good on his debts to the seniors, and society, he will be on his way to jail for as long as 12 years instead to pay for his crimes against the elderly. Sentencing was postponed by the courts to give McMaster an opportunity to pay the court ordered restitution.
