New Play Aces Poker Room
Sportsbook.com Poker and Players Only Poker are changing networks and merging to create “Play Aces” poker. On Thursday April 15, 2010 Sportsbook.com and Players Only will officially move from the Cake Poker Network to to the Merge Gaming Network.
The Merge network will literally quadruple over night! This is great for Merge, not so great for the Cake Network. The Cake Network will still have Cake Poker and Doyles Room bringing in a lot of players, but they are going to take a hit with network traffic. Merge Gaming is claiming that they will grow to 6 times their current network size by August 2010.
Currently Carbon Poker and Aced are the biggest rooms on Merge. I’ve always liked the Merge poker software, but the lack of traffic was a deal breaker for me. Now, I’m ready to start playing at a Merge poker room. Will others feel the same way?
For current Sportsbook.com and Players Only poker players, all of your cash, pending bonus, tournament tickets and gold cards/coins will be automatically transferred over at the following rates:
1 Cake Gold Chip = 20 VIP points
1 Cake Gold Card = 1 VIP point
$0.01 in tourney ticket from Cake = 1 VIP point
$1 pending bonus at Cake = $1 pending bonus at Merge
Also, you will not have to download the new software and create a new account. The current Sportbook.com and Players Only poker software will automatically update to the new Play Aces Merge Client.
There will be a new $100k Freeroll at Play Aces for all new and old players.

It’s a disaster! Won’t let me log in. Playasses support is poor and they say I might not be able to keep my screenname of ten years.
Be forewarned. This upgrade may require HOURS of your time just to get back in.
Wow, the new client is terrible! Resource hog, slow log in, slow navigation, and a cluttered look. Awful launch. Bring back Cake!
I did the update and it went ok, I’m not digging the new software though.
I will play here some more, but will still play at Cake!

Follow-up After two chat sessions and two Emails, no luck. Finally, I found out that the system doesn’t allow spaces. One would think that support would know that since they had my screen name!!!! Anyway, new graphics are a step down from old one.
