Many times poker pros will offer to stake another player so they will attend a certain event or if their bankroll is running low. This is seen time and time again and many times the player will do so well that the staker will earn extra cash for fronting the poker pro.
Recently poker pro Tony G announced an offer to mystery poker pro Isildur1, offering him a chance to participate in an upcoming Party Poker event. Party Poker and Matchroom Sport are going to be hosting the Party Poker Big Game IV on April 11th to the 13th at the Les Ambassadeurs club in Mayfair, London. The event will be televised and it is one of the most anticipated televised poker events of the year.
The show has quite a following but with the recent invite extended to Isildur1, the show is sure to be hyped up even more. Those already confirmed for the event are: ‘Unabomber’ Phil Laak, Jennifer Tilly, Isaac Haxton, Tony G, Neil Channing and Luke Schwartz. Many more are expected to attend but if Isildur1 shows up, the game would be off the charts.
We have yet to see the mystery poker pro compete in a live event as his identity is a secret. The poker pro has remained a mystery as he has taken large pots from top poker pros as well as losing massive amounts of cash as well. The poker pro has taken on the likes of Tom Dwan, Patrik Antonius, and Phil Ivey and many more.
The invitation from Tony G was sent out via Tony G’s blog. Tony G offered to pay for the mystery poker pros hotel, airfare, entry into the tournament and pretty much anything else he may need. And as far as remaining a mystery goes, that is covered as well.
Matchroom Sport managing director Eddie Hearn commented: “We have been in contact with Isildur1 and would love him to join the game. If he wants to we will even make special arrangements so that he doesn’t have to reveal his identity to anyone. We are quite happy to let him play wearing a mask or in disguise.”
Tony G even offered the poker pro his Kermit the Frog mask to keep his identity a secret. It will definitely be a much more interesting event if Isildur does show up and compete. The poker world has no idea if the pro can play as well during live events so it would be nice to see how he competes against others at a real poker table.
The event has also made some changes that will make the event more interesting. Players will now have the ability to ‘evict’ an opponent and replace them with a new one every two hours. The show is created to bring together players by their personality instead of their game play, which makes for a very interesting television show.
