Online poker room PokerStars recently announced the return of their popular tournament series the PokerStars Baltic Festival. The series will return in June and it will take place in Tallinn, Estonia at the Olympic Casino.
The tournament will begin on June 16th and continue until the 19th. PokerStars is working the Baltic Festival and the EPT Tallinn event together. The venue for the Tallinn event has yet to be announced but many believe the event will take place at the Swissôtel. Players will be able to win a special EPT Tallinn package via the Baltic Festival Main Event.
PokerStars will also be giving an EPT Tallinn prize package to the player who lasts the longest in the Baltic Festival Main Event if they are wearing the PokerStars logo. PokerStars will be providing gear and items with the logo and anyone can wear the items in the hopes of winning the special prize package. Players do not have to qualify via PokerStars to be eligible to win the prize package.
The first day of the festival will mark when the main event begins. But before the main event kicks off the festival will be hosting cash games and sit and gos as well as a cocktail hour.
The festival will also be hosting several side events which will begin on Thursday evening. The following events will be available: €400 + 40 No Limit Hold’em Terminator, €300 + 30 Pot Limit Omaha, €500 + 50 No Limit Hold’em, and €100 + 10 No Limit Hold’em Turbo.
Players who would like to participate in the festival can earn a seat via PokerStars. Players will find there are two ways to win a seat to the tournament. The site is hosting a weekly final which will take place each Saturday until the event begins. The second way is a re-buy tournament which will take place each Sunday.
Last year the event drew 307 players to compete and twenty four different countries were represented during the tournament. The main event was won by Thomas Patridge and he earned $114,020 for the win. Last year the main event had a buy-in of €1,100 but this year the main event buy-in has been increased to €1,500.
PokerStars recently posted a press release announcing the festivals return. In the release Peter Eastgate the 2008 Main event winner commented on the greatness of the festival by stating: “it was a great event last year and I will definitely recommend it to all the players I know.” Eastgate finished in 23rd place in the first Baltic festival in 2009 and earned $3,647 in the process.
