SCOOP Main Event Won by Ryan “toetagU” Fair

The 2010 PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker has ended and the series was a great success. The series had over 130,000 players competing and the main event of the series took place over two days. There were three series of play for the main event, a low buy-in, a medium buy-in and a high buy-in. the high event was won by Ryan Fair as he outlasted the large field of competitors.

When day two began for the high event, there were only twenty seven players left. Ryan Fair played quite well in the high event. He was the chip leader as final table play began and he earned the lead by having his A-K take down a competitors A-K while only nineteen players remained. This helped him stay in the game and hold the chip lead.

When final table play began the first player to be eliminated was Benjamin Delaney. He was knocked out when he put his pocket tens up against his competitors pocket queens. Next to go would be Joe Patrick who was holding pocket tens only to be knocked out with pocket aces.

Pocket tens seemed to be the bad cards to hold as yet another player was eliminated while holding them. Sam Lola was knocked out in seventh place while holding pocket tens. Next to go would be BongBob who was knocked out with pocket eights when he went up against a competitor who held pocket jacks.

Fifth place went to Danny Smith and he was followed by Greg Hobson who was knocked out in fourth place while holding pocket jacks. It seems large pairs just were not holding up in this tournament. Next to go was Brad Lipson who went out in third.

Before Brad went out in third place there was talk of a deal between Brad, Kristoffer Thorsson and Fair. However Kristoffer would not budge and take the deal so Brad was left the short stack and he was out in third. This left Kristoffer and Fair to compete in heads up play.

The heads up challenge was exciting but it eventually would end as Kristoffer would hold pocket sevens and Fair held pocket Jacks on the final hand. The jacks were the winning cards and Fair would claim the first place win.

Fair earned his biggest pay day to date when he won the PokerStars SCOOP high buy-in main event. Fair earned $1,162,350 for the win. His largest pay day before this win was $253,941 when he finished in 31st place at the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event.
