Doyle Brunson has been working hard over the past few months to find the best young poker pros to create his new poker team The Brunson 10. Brunson is looking to create a team of ten young poker pros that will help his poker room, Doyles Room, stay current and fresh. Brunson has already selected five players for the team and he recently announced the sixth member of the team.
Steve ‘gboro780’ Gross is the sixth member of The Brunson 10. Doyle Brunson announced the latest addition and he commented on Gross by stating: “Steve’s record speaks for itself. Player of the year in 2009, on his way to another one this year, the kid is unbelievable.”
Gross has proven he is a top poker pro. In 2009, the poker pro earned $1,216,413 in online poker winnings which gave him almost $3 million in online tournament winnings for his career. Gross finished runner up in 2008 to Alex ‘AJKHoosier1’ Kamberis for the Card Player Online Player of the Year race and in 2009 he earned the title of Online Player of the Year at Card Player.
The earn the title, Gross won twenty one tournaments throughout 2009 which included a first place finish at the $300 buy-in FTOPS event for $275,000 and a second place finish at a $3,000 Mixed Hold[‘em event at PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker for $128,000. Gross also earned a second place finish at a $500 buy-in event at Full Tilt for $126,506. For 2010, Gross is currently leading the Card Player Online Player of the Year race and it looks as though he may claim the title yet again this year.
Gross started his career at Party Poker at the $5 sit and go tournaments. He then figured out how to play the multi-table tournaments and he was on his way to start his outstanding career. Gross was a natural at the multi-table tournaments and he was winning and earning money since he first cashed out at PokerStars in 2005.
Gross now joins the other five members of The Brunson 10. The other members of the team include: Alex ‘AJKHoosier1’ Kamberis, Zachery ‘CrazyZachary’ Clark, Amit ‘amak316’ Makhija, Chris ‘Moorman1’ Moorman and Dani ‘ansky’ Stern.
A few of Gross’s teammates took to their Twitter accounts to welcome Gross to the team. Makjiha commented on his Twitter: “Welcome Steve ‘gboro780’ Gross to the @Brunson10. Geebs is def of the top 5 tournament players in the world right now, and a great guy.” AJKHoosier1 commented: “Welcome to the Brunson 10 steve! Amazing addition, gonna start making other sites’ rosters look bad ;)”.
Now The Brunson 10 is looking to add the final four players. It will be interesting to see who Doyle Brunson selects as the remaining players of the team.
