Last week, the Cereus Network, which includes both Absolute Poker, and Ultimate Bet was purchased by Blanca Games, Inc. Blanca is reportedly operated by Stuart Gordon a self proclaimed e-gaming entrepreneur. According to a press release from Cereus and Blanca, the group obtained permission from the Kahnawake Gaming Commission (KGC) in Canada to make purchase the network.
The press release also says “The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.” Since Cereus is not a publicly traded company like Party Poker, and a few other online poker sites, the companies are not required to release many details at all.
What does this mean to you as a poker player?
Nothing will change as far as player accounts, and logins. We’ve been assured that the player experience for now at least will remain the same as it ever was. The biggest change is perhaps that site is owner is perhaps a bit more reputable in the industry, and the name Russ Hamilton is just a bit farther removed.
The new Cereus Poker CEO had some things to say on the topic, stating that acquiring the poker network was a significant opportunity for Blanca. He also mentioned that the Cereus Network is in a good place among poker players in their 20’s and 30’s.
“We see a tremendous growth opportunity in this deal and beyond, as Blanca seeks additional acquisitions in the market.” commented Gordon further.
Jeff Gordon is the founder and current owner of online bingo site BingoMania.com as well as Helix Gaming International. The head offices of Blanca Games can be found in what is perhaps the online gambling capital of the world, Antigua. The company also has offices in Costa Rica.
